(The Royal Academy of Arts)、牛津街(Oxford Street)及攝政街(Regent Street)等地。

In London, I visited Prince William and Kate Middleton’s residence at Kensington Gardens, the British Museum, and Buckingham Palace. I also rode the Piccadilly Line to explore Covent Garden, The Royal Academy of Arts, Oxford Street, and Regent Street.

Strolling through Regent Street and Oxford Street felt like being in Taipei’s Ximending or Shilin Night Market. At 6 p.m., during the evening rush, the streets were packed with bustling crowds, urging me to quicken my pace. The intersection of Regent and Oxford Streets teemed with travelers from around the world, embodying London’s vibrant street scene.

Pedestrians carried bags of all sizes, as if celebrating a festival early. British teens laughed freely, brimming with youthful energy; office workers unwound with beers at street corners; older adults and middle-aged families dined together. This is a vivid snapshot of London in the era of globalization and commercialization.

The next day, visiting Prince William and Kate Middleton’s residence at Kensington Gardens offered a distinctly different British experience.

Kensington Gardens, once the residence of Princess Diana, is now home to Prince William, Kate Middleton, and other royals. Since Diana’s passing, William and Kate have been among the most admired royal figures worldwide.

Perhaps due to their lack of the ostentatious extravagance often associated with nobility, their approachable and relatable image has won the hearts of the British public and people globally. Their newborn children, frequently featured in the media with their adorable charm, further endear them to many.

Kensington Gardens residence is currently open to the public for exhibitions featuring Queen Victoria’s relics, a costume museum with British historical attire, and special displays of Princess Diana’s dresses (such as the 2025 “Dress Codes” exhibition showcasing her green velvet gown and red glittering evening dress). While Kensington Palace’s exhibits don’t emphasize standout artworks like the British Museum, they offer a glimpse into the bygone lives of British nobility.

After visiting, one can stroll through the expansive Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The residence square features a man-made lake, evoking a simple English countryside charm. Locals often walk dogs, cycle, or meander here, with couples cuddling in pairs, revealing the everyday joys of London life.
