On a whim, I took the Odakyu “Romancecar” from Shinjuku Station to Hakone for cherry blossom viewing. Hakone is a renowned hot spring destination in winter and a perfect spot for cherry blossoms in spring. The relaxed pace here is delightful, with many Japanese families bringing children to enjoy the blossoms.
Thanks to the patient staff at the Odakyu Travel Service Center for introducing Hakone’s attractions and tickets. I was unaware of the “Hakone Free Pass” before, which saved me significant time and money.
I recommend travelers purchase the “Hakone 2-Day or 3-Day Free Pass,” a great value allowing unlimited rides on the Hakone Tozan Railway, cable car, and the famous pirate sightseeing boat.
